“Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral,” the statement from Buckingham Palace said, referring to her castle in Scotland.
No details were provided, and it remains unclear what symptoms the queen is displaying and whether she is suffering from an illness. The 96-year-old monarch appeared frail in photos with the new British prime minister, Liz Truss, at Balmoral on Tuesday — though not at death’s door. Problems with the queen’s mobility required Truss and her predecessor, Boris Johnson, to travel to Scotland for the ceremonial transfer of power, which typically takes place in London.
