Report: Hunter Biden launches offensive over laptop with lawsuit threats, investigation demands

Hunter Biden is reportedly threatening to sue multiple people involved in the handling of his notorious laptop.

According to a report Wednesday by CBS News, the president’s son is demanding state and federal investigations regarding the spread of the material and threatening a defamation lawsuit against Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Letters were sent, CBS reported, to the Delaware attorney general, the Department of Justice, the IRS and attorneys for Fox News and Mr. Carlson.

“This marks a new approach by Hunter Biden and his team,” a source “familiar with Biden‘s approach,” told CBS News. “He is not going to sit quietly by as questionable characters continue to violate his rights and media organizations peddling in lies try to defame him.”

The letters to state and federal investigators seek probes of former computer repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac; Rudolph W. Giuliani and Stephen Bannon, both former advisers to former President Donald Trump; their attorney Robert Costello and unnamed others.

Those parties and others are united, according to legal claims cited by CBS, by  there being “considerable reason to believe violated various Delaware laws in accessing, copying, manipulating, and/or disseminating Mr. Biden‘s personal computer data.”

The threatened defamation suits against Fox News and Mr. Carlson, according to a letter sent by Biden attorney Bryan Sullivan, concern claims that Mr. Biden had paid “rent” to his father, “in what Mr. Carlson implied was essentially a money laundering scheme to finance President Biden‘s lifestyle prior to his election “

Mr. Sullivan’s letter also accused Mr. Carlson and the network of defamation by “alluding to Mr. Biden having unauthorized access to classified documents because of his presence at President Biden‘s house.”

Mr. Sullivan said those claims were false.

Mr. Biden‘s laptop and its contents were first reported in the New York Post in October 2020.

According to Silicon Valley content moderators and former Democratic-leaning U.S. intelligence officials, the laptop was probably Russian disinformation and the Biden campaign and later the Biden White House long refused to comment on it for that reason.

The wording of the lawsuit reported by CBS — “Mr. Biden‘s personal computer data” — presupposes that the laptop did in fact belong to Mr. Biden.
