UFC fighter Jeff Molina comes out officially as bisexual after being outed by leaked video

UFC mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Molina became the first openly out LGBT male UFC fighter after coming out as bisexual on Twitter Friday.

The tweet was prompted by the leaking of a private video showing Molina engaged in a sex act on Thursday.

“TLDR: I’m bi,” the message began, TLDR meaning “too long, didn’t read.”

Molina continued by saying that he had not wanted to come out in this way, but that his chance to choose when to reveal his sexuality had been taken from him.

He also noted that, given homophobia in the mixed martials arts (MMA) fanbase, he had not planned on coming out during his fighting career.

“The thought of my buddies, teammates, and people I look up to looking at me different let alone treating me different for something I can’t control was something I couldn’t fathom,” Molina wrote.

Molina explained that he wants to be known for his skills rather than his sex life.

In June 2022, after receiving backlash for wearing the UFC’s pride month shorts, Molina called out the critics saying “I just thought in 2022 people would be a little more open-minded and not pieces of [expletive]. But I guess I was wrong.”

Molina, a flyweight with an 11-2-0 record and 3-0 record in the UFC specifically, will not be appearing inside the octagon for the foreseeable future. Molina was suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in December.

Molina’s coach, James Krause, is under investigation for suspicious betting around a Nov. 5, 2022, fight between Darrick Minner and Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.

Minner has been released by UFC, and the company will not allow any fighters coached by Krause in their events unless they disassociate from him. Krause also sold his Glory MMA and Fitness gym.

Molina is himself accused of “significant involvement” in the scheme. His suspension will continue through the end of the investigation, according to ESPN.

In a since-shuttered MMA betting channel run by Krause on the Discord platform, Molina wrote “For the last 6 months all my bills including mortgage and car note have been paid via Krause’s picks. Do yourself a favor and join the VIP,” according to MMA news website Bloody Elbow.
