The Nationals go quietly as the Brewers sweep a doubleheader at Nationals Park

No, it wasn’t the rain, the slick outfield grass or the dirt that stuck in their cleats and asked for a good banging against concrete. This time, like so many times before it, it was an offense that hardly turned its wheels in the first game of a split doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers (a 4-1 loss), then fell short in the second leg at night (a 6-2 defeat, the Nationals’ third straight). It was just bad baseball — at the plate, on the mound, on defense, even — and a whole lot more of the same.
