Live updates: Up to 1,500 Americans still seek to leave Afghanistan as deadline looms, State Dept. says

Yesterday, the military conducted a third airlift of Americans stranded in Kabul, bringing fewer than 20 into the airport. Between Tuesday at 3 a.m. and Wednesday at 3 a.m., about 19,000 people were taken out of Afghanistan, 11,200 of them by the U.S. military. To date, 88,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan, and 58,000 to 60,000 of those were transported on U.S. military aircraft.
