Russia-Ukraine war live updates: Power, water outages in Kyiv, key cities after strikes on infrastructure

A top U.N. official called Monday for the full resumption of a U.N.-brokered grain export agreement after Russia suspended its participation over alleged Ukrainian attacks.

Martin Griffiths, the U.N. undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief, said the deal, which was signed in July with the aim of allowing Ukraine to export its agricultural goods, had facilitated the export of some 9.5 million tons of food and had helped reduce global food prices.

Speaking to a session of the U.N. Security Council, Griffiths addressed Russia’s decision to suspend its role in the arrangement over the weekend after it accused Ukraine of using the export deal as cover for attacking Russian ships.
