Letter to the editor: Why is bigotry OK against Jews?

The best and brightest of our student bigots populate the best and brightest universities, those with very highly compensated administrators, diversity and inclusion functionaries, and leftist professors (“Ivy Leagues pressed on embrace of free speech; skeptics see U-turn with anti-Israel protests,” web, Dec. 5).

One of the supreme ironies of these chaotic times is that these esteemed schools should host such bigotry. The president of Harvard, a Black woman, would not denounce calls for genocidal antisemitism on her campus in congressional testimony, saying that she needed more context before imposing Harvard’s speech code against calls for the genocide of Jewish people.

Would she and her colleagues in the presidential offices at MIT and the University of Pennsylvania — who were also questioned in the House of Representatives — be so judicious if a student was found using the wrong personal pronoun or calling for African American students to be segregated on campus? Of course not. But allowing Jewish students to be verbally assailed at their own schools is now par for the coursework.

These lauded university presidents are cowards. They are so low they must stand on tiptoes to reach bottom.
