Dallas Cowboys stadium employee accused of taking cash to let in ticketless fans

A Dallas Cowboys employee has been arrested after, police say, he took cash bribes to let fans without tickets into Sunday’s home game against the rival Philadelphia Eagles.

The Sunday Night Football matchup at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, had 93,752 attendees, according to ESPN, but local police claim that number may have been higher because of illegal entrants.

Diego Soto, 19, was arrested Sunday and has been charged with commercial bribery according to Arlington Police Department jail records. He was issued a $1,500 bond, according to Tarrant County records.

Mr. Soto, who was working the entry gate scanning tickets after the security checkpoint, is accused of letting in people who did not have tickets in exchange for cash.

An unnamed tipster made that accusation to an APD economic crimes detective stationed at the stadium. After being questioned, Mr. Soto admitted to accepting the money, a police spokesperson told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Police have not said how much money Mr. Soto is accused of taking as a bribe.

The Cowboys won Sunday’s game 33-13 and took the NFC East division lead, with their 10-3 record trumping the Eagles’ identical record due to tiebreakers. The Eagles took the first meeting between the two teams this season, winning 28-23 in Philadelphia last month.

The Cowboys currently hold the second seed in the NFC, behind the San Francisco 49ers, who are also 10-3. The 49ers hold tiebreakers over both Philadelphia and Dallas.
