Jan. 6 hearing live updates: Committee to vote on subpoenaing Trump, officials say

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), chairman of the committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, said Thursday’s hearing is actually “a formal committee business meeting,” which means that in addition to presenting evidence, members can “potentially hold a committee vote on further investigative action.”

The committee has debated whether to make criminal referrals based on evidence it has uncovered about the attack.
