Midterm elections live updates: Despite torrent of misinformation, voting unfolds relatively smoothly

OREGON CITY, Ore. — The state’s third most-populous county said that it planned to release only preliminary election results immediately after polls closed and that it wouldn’t post any updates until late Wednesday, making it unlikely that Oregon will announce the results of two tight races Tuesday night.

Clackamas County, outside Portland, does not plan to update its preliminary results until 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to its website. Other counties, including neighboring Multnomah, plan to release updated results every two hours after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Asked what was behind the decision, Kimberly Webb, a spokeswoman for Clackamas County, said, “I’m untangling this myself right now.”
