Christie: Voters, not the courts, should sink Trump’s White House bid

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said voters — not the courts — should stop Donald Trump from serving another term as president.

Speaking at a New Hampshire town-hall meeting, Mr. Christie said he had not read the fresh 200-plus page ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court that banned Mr. Trump from appearing on the state’s ballot, but the basic idea did not sit well with him.

“I do not believe Donald Trump should be prevented from being president by any court,” said Mr. Christie, one of Mr. Trump’s presidential-primary rivals and one of his most vigorous critics. “I think he should be prevented from being president of the United States by the voters of this country. That is what I think.”

Mr. Christie said it would be bad for the country for Mr. Trump to be blocked from the ballot when he has not been tried in the courts, or even formally accused in his numerous criminal indictments, for engaging in insurrection.
